We focus on developing the skills you need to create and write an academic paper or professional report, write an engaging email that is clear and succinct, or send a clear and compelling text message.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Write academic papers using simple, compound, complex, and compound-complex sentences.
- Write paragraphs
- that are fully developed (approximately 8 – 10 sentences in length).
- that are coherent.
- that use a variety of sentence structures in the same paragraph.
- that includes a topic sentence and supporting details.
- Write essays
- based on personal experience
- using the rhetorical style of illustration (primary focus in Session A)
- using the rhetorical style of persuasive (primary focus in Session B)
- following the Writing Process (brainstorming, writing, revising) with little guidance from the instructor.
- that is planned by organizing the ideas in an outline format.
- that is revised based on self-correction and comments made by the instructor.
- with a thesis statement, topic sentences and supporting details (following the outline).
- that has unity, progression and a connection of ideas.
- that has a range of vocabulary and appropriate word choice.
