This seven-week summer bridge program is designed to familiarize you with the academic expectations and cultural knowledge necessary to succeed in graduate departments at Florida State University.

Our goal is for you to begin your graduate studies with confidence. We feel strongly that participation in ACES gives a competitive advantage to new international graduate students.

***Note: Upon acceptance, CIES will issue you an I-20 for the ACES program. You must use the CIES I-20 to apply for your F-1 student visa. After you finish the ACES course, your SEVIS record will be transferred to the main campus of Florida State University and FSU’s Center for Global Engagement will issue an I-20 for your degree program using the same SEVIS record. You will not need to get a new visa or leave the U.S. as part of this process.

Student Success with ACES

"Since English is my second language I was afraid of being a graduate student at FSU. With the ACES program, I could reduce my fear from a new environment and now have settled into FSU very well. This class taught me how to participate actively in the class under American culture and how to communicate with professors respectfully...I received above 3.9 GPA in my first semester and now I'm pretty confident of my future success. I definitely recommend the ACES class to newly admitted  students from other countries like me."

"What I love most about CIES is that it makes me feel like home. People from all over the world came together and formed a big family that I will always hold dear. It is a place where I'll always find support and positivity."
